Question 12. What features, apart from food quality and price, would be very important to your decision to patronize a Takoma Park restaurant? Please check all that apply, and add, if necessary:
Respondents Answers (CNTL-F to search)
1858649 nice romantic atmosphere, NOT kid friendly, TABLECLOTHS, candlelight, good food and a real wine list.
1858657 A sense that the restaurant is run by people who KNOWabout food and CARE about FOOD, and who serverelatively fresh, tasty food.
1858664 late hoursquotrealquot customer service, as opposed to the hippy-dippyhalf-baked service at Mark’’s Kitchen
1858670 wholesome, inexpensive, someplace you could eat at frequently, small menu, daily specials, friendly service
1858678 Quiet and quality
1858691 Atmosphere service I would also like a restaurant that is not so quotkid-friendlyquot, especially for dining out in the evening
1858693 Food quality is paramount, but otherwise, a less casual option would be nice.
1858715 I would want a nice atmosphere - something that seemed classy.
1858717 No blasting music quiet with only the noise of contented diners set up for conversation
1858739 organicfair trade
1858797 mostly, being able to walk there
1858831 quality of the cuisine I rarely eat out in Takoma Park (despite the answer to this previous question which did not leave alternatives for saying that I try not to eat in Takoma Park). I don’’t believe in spending money on poor goods and Takoma Park cuisine is not worth what it costs. The only reason to eat out is if one has to for social or professional reasons. If I a restaurant to patronize for a nice meal, I one that offers a nice meal.
1858839 Parking is only important if it is outside of Old-Town Takoma. Otherwise I could and would walk to it.
1858872 quiet, comfortable
1858877 what I would really like to see is some useful retailso that I don’’t have to drive to buy everything Ineedoffice supplies, hardware, sewing items. Youseem to be working on becoming a tourist destinationwhile eliminating the things that made TP a place thatpeople *did* want to come here for.
1858909 Pleasant ambiance doesn’’t have to be fancy butshould be comfortable and friendly. NO restaurant inTakoma Park has this. For a model, check out ColonelBrooks’’ Tavern in Brookland (lots of wood helps).
1858929 Good exhaust fan, good acoustics
1858939 Quiet Good service
1859048 Quiet
1859082 parking proximity is not an issue for Old Town/Takoma Junction would be an issue for Takoma/Langley, Long Branch, and other areas
1859152 Nice ambiancesomething you can go sans kids to
1859153 Kid-friendly is nice but not a requirement.
1859178 Attractiveness, cleanliness, friendly efficient service, not too noisy. Parking depends on location--we would walk 3-4 blocks.
1859190 Cleanliness not harsh lighting friendly service Toples23 @9fa
1859191 Vegan menu options and a commitment to cruelty free, earth friendly cuisine.
1859198 Ambience. Mark’’s Kitchen and Middle East Market are too bright at night. Just simple changes like painting the walls a warm color and adding softer lighting would make a huge difference.
1859201 Pleasant ambiance. Screaming kids not tolerated. Good ion of delicious-tasting vegan items (not just salad or a veggie burger). Soy milk for coffee.
1859210 Vegan options
1859226 Vegan menu
1859237 real food
1859250 service demeanor of regular clientele hours of operation take-out/delivery
1859280 bike parking convenience, locally grown/produced fare
1859323 vegetarian options
1859325 Good food. Clean environment in the restaurant.Reasonable price. None of the above options are thatimportant to me.
1859336 In response to previous question, Saturday (us), Sunday (with kids)
1859339 Atmosphere: casual, but upscale (e.g., cloth tablecloths, background music, carpet but not stuffy or presumptuous) inviting BAR
1859341 table cloths, quiet family/adult atmosphere, competent wait staff
1859343 atmosphere (I’’m not looking for a quotwhite tableclothquot place, but something one step up from Mark’’s Kitchen)staff must be friendly or I don’’t go back
1859344 Level of noise (LOW!)
1859346 Good food. Quiet - No Music. Simple and not pretentious. Good service. Need a restaurant like Savory that is better managed with fresh food.
1859347 Metro accessibility, service, not too crowded (I hate restaurants where you are almost literally bumping elbows with other patrons).
1859351 Tables and waitstaff
1859352 food quality
1859353 reasonable price, good food
1859355 A varied menu
1859356 Not so loud that it’’s hard to hear others at the table.
1859357 I’’m a local musician and would love having a nearby spot to check out bands. Electric Maid wasn’’t a good venue for adults and Taliano’’s didn’’t allow outsiders to play.
1859361 Name or Chains
1859363 Spacious interior, room to actually move around inside
1859366 no kids
1859380 would prefer a non-chain restaurant (or a local chain)
1859386 Good atmosphere - not diner-like or chain like, not too intimate or romantic or stuffy, just friendly, comfortable, casual but nice - could take family or just go as a couple have a fun place to meet up with friends for drinks and appetizers or get a full meal - entertainment would be nice as well, but not necessary
1859389 Atmosphere. I would patronize a restraunt that had a quotstylequot of some kind. It would be nice to have outdoor seating.
1859392 great food
1859394 Interesting and delicious food.
1859402 High Quality of food, family friendly
1859403 Good food with good, prompt, attentive service. Mark’’s Kitchen, which is the only real option in TP, has consistently terrible service. You wait and wait and wait!
1859405 decent service
1859407 Healthy menu options
1859414 outdoor cafes in the warmer months is key
1859415 Vegan options
1859424 Can sit for awhile and not too noisy
1859436 Quality of food/service
1859439 Vegetarian options
1859440 Open late evenings when I eat, which NO old townTakoma Park restaurants do!
1859443 vegan options
1859447 Atmosphere
1859459 Walkable, bikable or Metro accessible
1859461 clean and healthy food: proteins, vegies, for me it would be light healthy non greasy carbs. not solely vegetarian. i eat meat and fish. i don’’t eat wraps or big pasta dishes
1859465 Open late hours. There are no places to go after 10pm around here!
1859467 ATMOSPHERE. Decent floors, bathrooms, lighting, heating, etc.Takoma Park restaurants are so shabby. Idon’’t feel comfortable inviting friends to dinner here.
1859477 just good basic food with a pleasant ambience - a place that’’s good for conversation no airy-fairy menus with reductions of anything or baby vegetables no ’’more organic than thou’’ menus good brunch (the one at the old savory is disgusting and the service there is a nightmare).
1859479 good quality, reliably prepared, food.kid-friendly would be nice, but it more depends on howgood the food is we could go either for date nightor with daughter.
1859481 Not too kid-friendly
1859497 Great ambiancecolorful, warm, wireless internet
1859501 A restaurant that would stay open later than 9:00 pm
1859505 Comfortable, relaxing ambiance where you can talk
1859514 decent wine list walking distance to my house (near metro) a plus.
1859520 Good food!!! Right now, Takoma offers diner fare so we do not eat there.
1859528 Interesting, different food
1859531 cloth napkins
1859534 drinks
1859542 I really really want a place with good ambiance.Comfortable chairs, dim lighting, warm feeling,well-kempt. Doesn’’t have to be fancy, could even bepizza. I just want to sit and relax in a nice atmosphere.
1859551 I want to underscore price. Price to me is VERY important. Also I would prefer NOT kid friendly and NO music. If I do go out to eat, I want to enjoy the people I am with and not compete with kids and music.
1859555 nice ambiance, quiet enough to talk without shouting.
1859564 Atmosphere - Mark’’s is great for what it is, but oftenI want something a little fancier. Tableclothes, lowerlight, a little more intimate tables, etc.Food quality trumps everything. If there was a trulygreat restaurant here, even if it was above the priceI indicated earlier, I am sure I would eat therealbeit only a few times a year. If there was a goodtrattoria, or pub, or asian I would eat there alot.
1859573 It would be nice if it was combined with a book store, like Kramer Books at Dupont Circle. Also, would be nice to have book signings, like Politics and Prose.
1859592 cleanliness, friendly wait staff
1859595 good food, pleasant atmosphere
1859610 Friendly and attentive serviceUnafraid of groups of African-American patrons
1859631 Ambience: attractive interior, comfortable booths, lowlight, art, low noise level. Wine and beer would benice but mixed drinks not a big priority.
1859633 good food
1859634 We love jazz places, perhaps something with a jazz-pizza mix. We also wish Takoma Park had a pub.
1859640 Table clothesCandlesGood Food
1859643 Vegetarian options.
1859660 quality presentation, well-known chef, atmosphere
1859662 Food Quality, Atmosphere, Price, and Other follow-on entertainment available in Takoma Park
1859683 Later hours, relaxing atmosphere.
1859693 Quality of cooking
1859702 Friendly, knowledgeable wait staff
1859710 Local procurement (vegs, meat)
1859734 Not all necessary at the same time - but would be great if possible.
1859739 If it’’s going to be a popular place, then we’’d like a bar area where we can sit and have a drink while waiting for a table
1859757 vegan options
1859765 Music would be a negative
1859775 low-cost, quiet
1859792 Would love to have somewhere to watch the game get a meal drinks.
1859793 type of food
1859798 we prefer local places rather than chain restaurants, and places that demonstrate a commitment to thecommunity and to sustainability - local, organic, ideally vegetarian food
1859799 Reasonably healthy menu options, clean and relaxing decor, relatively quiet ambiance (so you can hear and have a conversation without yelling)
1859802 Good food, relaxed, friendly atmosphere
1859806 good food, nice decor, friendly
1859807 Vegan options make it a lot easier to eat out withfamily. A menu that reflects the season.
1859811 Emphasis on healthful entrees ambiance - relaxed, casual, but attractive NOT noisy!!! - a place where you can carry on a conversation without loud music or so many hard surfaces that the place echos.
1859816 Vegetarian/vegan options
1859820 SERVICE!!!!!!!!!! Taliano’’s had terrible service so we never went there.
1859824 Easy walking distance to other Takoma Park amenitieslike Summer Delights. Also having a good variety ofvegetarian options.
1859830 Good vegetarian options
1859835 being able to get there without driving.
1859840 ambiance
1859850 kid-friendly without being kid-focused 2 Amy’’s is a perfect ex. of this - still good food that appeals to adults as well as kids
1859858 Convenient to Metro
1859860 Good ambiance, low noise level, excellent food
1859864 -outdoor/roof seating-not a national chain restaurant-local chain is okay
1859884 Higher-end restaurant would be nice! Or a pub/tavern with alcohol!
1859895 Veggie friendly options, with limited exceptions (e.g. Billy Goat tavern), would prefer not to frequent franchises/chain restaurants
1859901 walkability
1859904 Sit-down meal atmosphere. I want a place that feelslike I can have a sit-down meal. I don’’t get thatfeeling at Savory Cafe or Mark’’s Kitchen (for instance).
1859906 Would really like a slightly more formal quotdatequotrestaurant in Takoma Park, for occasional dinners out.Kid-friendly is important for more frequent, casual(less expensive) eating out.
1859946 Vegetarian and vegan food. Good decorum. Affordableprice and great staff.
1859993 More space Mark’’s Kitchen needs a dining floor
1860035 music/entertainment would be nice but not quotvery importantquot
1860050 Vegetarian choices
1860070 Presentation of dinning room
1860071 Great foodPlace to meet neighborsNot too noisy
1860107 Music/entertainment is a negative. I won’’t go there ifthere is loud music or for that matter any liveentertainment. That’’s why Talianos went out ofbusiness The music was too godam loud.
1860117 A reasonable restaurant that 1) Does not have the food sitting in a display case for hours 2) has some atmosphere (no leftover kitchen tables for seating) 3) vegetarian and non-vegetarian options
1860124 I would be more likely to patronize a restaurant that does not sell alcohol rather than one that does.
1860127 Originality, independently owned-not a chain
1860130 uniqueness
1860143 Ambience (decor, cleanliness, efficient waiters.
1860160 Walking distance from Takoma Junction
1860161 Metro accessibl (less then 10 blocks from the metro)
1860181 walkability climate control (not too hot, not too cold) a racially/ethnically diverse crowd
1860191 a great ambient atmosphere
1860194 Quality ambiance
1860204 Vegan and Vegetarian options
1860205 Excellent food with fast and courteous service
1860213 Ecological considerations of construction andrestaurant operation. Quick service.
1860222 A music perfomance space would be a big draw in itself (if it had decent food), as would a movie theater.
1860223 Other: for dinner: quality surroundings in terms ofdecor, Not noisy (this has not to do with children butwith muffling sound)
1860227 Good wine list. Great interior design - the kind of restaurant that people from beyond Takoma Park would come to.
1860231 Good menu ion. Alchohol could be limited to just beer and wine.
1860238 food quality and price are the most important
1860241 If in Takoma Park probably would walk to therestaurant. We like restaurant that are easilyaccessible and preferable walking distance or metroaccess.
1860243 Comfortable, inviting atmosphere that would make it agood destination for non-Takoma Park friends.
1860247 Quiet, nice place. Other restaurants in TP are family, cafe style. We have enough. Could use a place for quiet talk and fine food.
1860253 High Quality Fresh Food - Friendly service
1860255 Ease of getting a table
1860275 Absolutely NOT a national chain. A very small localchain (Mi Rancho, Negril) is acceptable. Veggie options.
1860284 How about some kid-free restaurants, and seriously, no entertainment if it’’s going to be the same old stupid shit you can already get in Takoma. I don’’t want the AfroCubanExtravangaza while I’’m trying to enjoy some pancakes. Ugh.
1860285 Great Vegan options casual atmosphere - but definitely quotput-togetherquot... art for sale on the walls, etc...
1860299 kid friendly is great, if also adult friendly
1860303 I DO NOT like to eat where there is live music! I prefer a nice quiet place conducive to conversation.
1860307 A well designed enjoyable dining environment
1860319 We don’’t have kids so we actually look for places that are not kid friendly. I also do not like loud music during dinner - I like to talk with my friends on an evening out.
1860321 If it stays open later than 9 p.m. Often, we don’’t get home until late and we don’’t eat until later.
1860337 Takoma Park really needs a quotmeeting place.quot most great neighborhoods have a place to gather and have a meal and/or beer with friends and family.
1860375 Comfortable chairs, pleasant atmosphere, good service. I don’’t have kids, but kid firendly is important for this neighborhood.
1860377 the cuisine. I’’m not a vegetarian.
1860402 Cleanliness, Cool Ambiance, Friendly Service
1860463 Nice atmospherre
1860465 We used to eat out much more frequently, but now thatwe have a 2 year old, we really only eat in placeswhere we can take him.
1860468 A fun, lively atmosphere.
1860470 I think it’’s important to have a nice atmosphere and good food. It would be great to have a destination close by. I live close enough to walk to downtown Takoma very easily and frequently have dinner with friends and/or lunch or brunch on the weekends, but typically feel like going some place a bit more upscale than what Takoma Park has to offer at this point.
1860475 But I don’’t want another beer slinging Keno parlorlike we had at Ana’’s!! That’’s the wrong kind ofalcohol serving restaurant to have in the neighborhood!
1860514 A menu that changes with the times would be nice. And a tiny bit of ambiance would be a draw.
1860531 it’’s all good, if it’’s in Takoma Park, and the food is good, we’’d go.we don’’t have children
1860545 cleanliness, open late enough, free refills on soda
1860570 Vegetarian/Vegan options
1860598 Plenty of Vegan options
1860635 Quiet atmosphere. Comfortable chairs.Cleanliness and tidiness.Space between tables. (Mark’’s kitchen is great, but I would rather spend time in a submarine.)Atmosphere - not necessarily fancy, but some charm.
1860641 relaxed casual atmosphere
1860656 Nice clean atmosphere.
1860689 It’’s important to me that a place has a decent of vegetarian options. Ideally a place that had both eat-in and take-out options.
1860712 I walk to Old Town Takoma so do not need parking there.
1860739 Good service. Friendly, independent business NOT a chain.
1860751 good food!!!
1860772 DECENT WAIT STAFF FOR SERVICE
1860775 healthy vegetarian alternatives
1860795 vegetarian options
1860805 NOT a kid friendly place. There are plenty of kid friendly options in Takoma Park. We NEED a quotdate-qualityquot dining place in Takoma Park.
1860841 Quality of the restaurant. Taliano’’s was terrible, Mark’’s is nice, but no place to take a date, and so TP just needs some sit down dining experiences.
1860843 The amount of vegetarian ions.
1860914 Depending on the outing, all of the above could be very important.
1860992 quiet atmosphere
1861022 having options I can eat (no sugar, no cheese)
1861029 A quality, kid friendly place to get a good meal that is a step up from Mark’’s (which we love too), Savory, etc. would be great.
1861048 White table cloth with personal service
1861066 A good atmosphere that is not focused on the singles scene (Family oriented).
1861085 Delicious vegan food including the many quotmock-meatsquotthat are available. The restaurants I mentioned alluse delicious and cholesterol-free meat substitutes.
1861087 quiet, low lighting levels, informal but not too casual
1861113 Something different from what’’s currently available just for variety’’s sake.
1861125 Affordable Menu
1861157 Comfortable seating and no long waits for a table.
1861173 Great Coffee and Breakfast
1861182 Good Service, Safe environment
1861188 ambiance, ie what old savory used to have city paper
1861193 Comfort (chairs padded back support)
1861260 Authentic cuisine, smart, attentive service.
1861270 really good upscale environment and food that changesseasonally
1861280 good food, relaxing venue
1861290 Please let there be one adult restaurant, please! Not everyone in the world has kids, and even those that do may appreciate a nice night out. Get a baby sitter! A restauranut for grown ups is what is needed.
1861291 Intersting, different cuisine than what’’s alreadyavailable nearby.
1861301 quiet
1861303 Preferably jazz
1861307 quiet atmosphere
1861319 good local produce, vegatarian options, fresh high quality fish, nice servers, organic juice bar, use of local bakeries, bright and clean environment
1861365 AtmosphereParking proximity is important but I live neardowntown TP so it is not a necessity for me.
1861366 I don’’ want to smell incence, or aromatherapy candles. I want a nice restaurant where i can take visitors and friends.
1861371 more quiet, relaxing atmosphere
1861408 good food and nice atmosphere a nice place to eat at during the day and then maybe a bit more adult in the evening with live entertainment.
1861414 walking distance
1861416 Ambience i.e. is a place with comfortable seating vs. a diner-like feel, non-harsh lighting, a little bit of distance from other patrons, etc.
1861417 A higher standard of service as it stands most vendors in Old Town seem to feel that their quotindependencequot qualfies them as worth patronizing. Long waits, indifference to customers and high prices for foods with narrow appeal make eating out in Takoma something we don’’t often do.
1861444 Ambiance. Much of what is in downtown currently wouldn’’t rank high on a cleanliness or ambiance scale.
1861450 interesting fooddifferent from lunch options (eat at EDG and Mark’’s for lunch so not as ready to eat dinner too, ie. expand the variety for sit-down beyond EDG and Mark’’s
1861460 Wheelchair access. Takoma Park is horrible forwheelchair access, which is a big reason I seldom eatthere. Even when I can enter a restaurant, it’’s sorare that I can get into the restroom to wash myhands. This is a huge problem when eating finger foods.
1861522 Not too many kids quiet - not a scene decor good, efficient service menu variety - from more formal dinners to less formal breakfast all day
1861655 convenient hours of operation
1861830 Atmosphere!! It needs to be comfortable and inviting. Not dark and dirty, or unkept. Like the owners care about the dining experience they are offering.
1861850 Safety MOST IMPORTANT. Well Lite areas, visable security, reduction in area crime near metro and businesses
1861867 Fresh clean look... the restaurants are like the old clothing stores in TP Wine bar, outdoor seating,
1861976 service
1862030 none
1862105 vegetarian options
1862129 welcoming - quiet, so conversations can take place - nicely decorated
1862132 Vegetarian
1862145 vegetarian options, healthy
1862295 Music: would be great to support local artists. Food:Vegetarian options
1862345 Clean, comfortable setting. Outdoor/garden seating. No televisions. Bar section. Great service.
1862369 Decent service. (Unlike at the evil Taliano’’s.)Quiet comfortable to go to by myself.
1862463 A pleasant, relatively quiet atmosphere and the feeling that it is a special place to go.
1862516 That it is a non-chain restaurant. I would also prefer that it had healthy options, and takeout available. ***I forgot to list Indian in my previous answer as one of the types of restaurants I’’d like to see.
1862557 walking distance from house
1862589 vegan options
1862873 It has to be attractive, not just a dump like a garage that they put tables in, which seems to be the usual decor around here. I also would like it kid unfriendly (ie, I don’’t want to be around little kids at dinner, I want adults and a nicer environment)
1862971 Vegetarian fare
1862972 Monthly rotating local art on the walls.Perhaps this comes later but I would notwant music/entertainment.
1862988 Walking proximity from metro
1863197 interesting decor
1863215 pleasant, comfortable, relaxing
1863398 Healthy - free range meats, organic vegetarian options
1863656 ambiance
1863841 changing menu, good wine list if a quotnicequot retaurantlively environment with music if more casual (likeAustin City Grill)
1863918 also, a bar-type lounge as part of the restaurant!
1863930 a sense of community and lively atmosphere. NO florescent lights or vinyl anythingone of our restaurant deal breakers BTW. Signature dishes that people line up at the door for (i.e.: Colorado Kitchen). NOT a chain. NOT a Corporation.
1863963 Serve food after 9:00 pmNot long lines
1863979 neighborly, informal ambiance.
1864026 Not particularly kid friendly.
1864068 location that doesn’’t subject me to traffic waits/jams, like getting in and out of downtown Silver Spring!
1864095 A place I wouldn’’t see jeans and flannel worn by other patrons. Cloth linens! Zero children.
1864112 Vegetarian options shd be available. Prefer organic options. Table cloths.
1864132 Going back to types of cuisine: just remembered we need Pizza/Italian sitdown place (but better than Taliano’’s)
1864206 Excellent service and good ambience most influence mychoice. Would prefer some restaurant choices that aremore oriented to adults looking for a nice eveningout, rather than young families.
1864214 Non-chain / locally-owned
1864366 Cleanliness (bathrooms and restaurant itself)Friendly staffNo bright, glaring, halogen lightsNot too noisyUse of fragrance-free products to wash cloth napkinsFragrance-free hand soap in bathroomComfortable seating
1864441 Vegetarian options
1864778 METRO ACCESSIBLE!!! I don’’t have a car I’’m willing to walk up to a mile for most things, but dinner means walking after dark so my radius is decreased walking 1/2 mile from a Metro station (Silver Spring or Takoma) is great but I’’m also willing to take the bus - the Ride-On lines 12, 13, 14, 16, 18 all originate at the Takoma station.
1864922 Good wine, good beer
1864993 I would love to see a resturaunt that used localproduce and organic or naturally raised meats
1865157 Variety of food on menu
1865187 Quality SERVICE
1865267 It’’s such an absolute shame residents must go elsewhere for a drink.
1865588 COMFORTABLE seating pleasant environment
1865971 Quality of food Interesting menuAmbiance/decor
1866563 good food!!!!!!!!!!!
1866878 Interesting and good food.
1867015 Ambiance, clean well organized facility
1867259 location - distance from the metro, from old town, etc. We’’re walkers, so every foot matters.
1867414 drinks aren’’t quotveryquot important, but would be nice
1867570 cleanliness, pleasant, but not fancy, environment
1867786 I would like a quiet, low light atmospher, ideallywith some separation among diners. I love thelayout/atmosphere of 2Quail on Capitol Hill, whichdivides its dining space into smaller, separate rooms.
1867899 Linens and fine dining . . . a real chef with great food.
1868048 pleasant, relaxed ambience
1868173 1) CLEAN2) I’’m really tired of surly attitudes. Well-trainedand well-supported staff is key.
1868266 Quiet adult atmosphere. Interior design for conversation. A place you could meet friends for a drink and have food you couldn’’t prepare easily at home.
1868282 Noise level is a factor for me. I’’d like a restaurant with relatively quiet music, where you don’’t have to shout to have a conservation.
1868341 Nice ambience somewhat more upscale not so casual as all the current places
1868441 A welcoming atmosphere ie nicely appointed,. For example, if/when the Taliano’’s site is rented a redo of the back space so it doesn’’t look like a long dark cave.
1868458 Atmosphere nothing TOO fancy and upscale, but nice enough to take visitors, and inviting enough to entice us to eat there as opposed to carrying out.Good service.
1868469 Quality and presentation of foodService
1868481 Vegan /vegetarian friendly
1868542 ambience and decor
1868545 free wi-fi internetcoffee/snacksorganic food
1868560 Vegetarian dishes available.Good ratings.
1868592 Kid-friendly does not have to mean it caters to children, just that children are welcome to eat there.
1868605 Not a bar, but a glass of wine would be nice.
1868647 Interesting menu, reliable service
1868948 Friendly casual atmosphere,Lack of pretension,reasonable price
1869167 ambiance good service
1869393 Not loud
1869558 Open past 8:00 PM.
1869614 mainly menu choice, food
1869959 an upscale feel/ambiance to the place but notover-the-top cost-wise
1870194 high quality food is most important.ambience - a place that feels good to relax with friends.music would be nice too but not during dinner. a place where i can hear the conversation
1870204 None of these are important for a restaurant, but we could use a good Irish pub or a bar.
1870206 well designed, no kids
1870478 close to a Metro organic or at least healty, fresh food.
1870726 Spacious, not crowded tables, room to walk between tables, room for a baby carrier at table
1870793 Ambiance and Service
1872450 Some place that is a community-centric place where groups are welcome, e.g., a pub with live music
1873194 Relaxing atmosphere
1874000 Food quality and decor.
1874383 atmosphere most important: lively, not hyper. Well-designed to accommodate big 7 small groups, balance of interaction w/ friends yet not on top of each other. A place flexible enough to serve quickly as well as allow longer more relaxed conversation or even wrking meetings. Visual appeal individual personality very important, but does not quotupscalequot or over-designed. Enjoy places like Jackies in Silver spring, Cerviche is a delight, but also like informal. So many excellent examples in DC, Bethesda to emulate. Music could be a plus. Another Mayorga would be great but music can dominate. Mi Rancho is a fun, great place (food is just average though) but kids love the tortilla machine. Franklin’’s in hyattsville, a brewery- excellent example of a welcoming comfy place with good food. maybe they would open another one!
1878432 A Friendly atmosphere. Music not too loud forconversation.

1885623 Clean restrooms - at least one facility for W and one for M. Low volume on music, whether live or recorded. Union shop or employee ownership. Community-supported agriculture.
1890049 vegan
1890948 I would like there to be a nice quotdate nightquot restaurant. There’’s enough parking or we could even walk depending on location! Think Restaurant Nora, Petits Plat (Connecticut Ave) with great service and pleasing decor/ambience. NOT a quotfamilyquot restaurant - there’’s enough of those in Silver Spring. Marks’’ Kitchen is great for a quick bite, not worth getting a babysitter and not conducive to romance!
1891796 Good atmosphere, well-designed and lit fun, hipenvironment with good acoustics (not too loud)
1891810 vegan/vegetarian options
1892792 a cool comfortable community cafe for espresso and hanging out with neighbors. Also a very very good pizza place ala Paradisio Also regarding music: not loud bands but acoustic jazz, traditional, classic, folk
1893508 low noise and relaxing atmosphere
1893559 Comfortable dining experienceA nice place to bring visiting relatives and friendsPleasant amd welcoming table service
1894189 Customer servicecleanatmospheredecent music on the sound system (i.e., not radio)/not too loud
1894195 Architectural Decor, Atmosphere
1895212 atmosphere
1895499 Open late, i.e, after 9pm
1898073 Proximity to Metro Ethnic or otherwise unique
1914944 Ambiance
1914989 No TV.Quiet enough to talk.
1915346 Quality of food, ambience
1915350 vegetarian options
1917120 Atmosphere conducive to conversation.
1918119 I would still patronize without any of the above but they would make it easier or more fun.
1918717 Hip atmosphere - slightly upscale decor, vegetarian options, adult oriented (few or no kids on a typical night)
1918910 great atmosphere
1924121 I’’m just looking for good food.
1924240 Ambience
1924267 Professional service, no long waits.
1924395 Service, Character, Overall Value
1924488 Atmosphere and decor
1924607 Kid-friendly, but not kid-overrun. Music, but not soloud that you can’’t hear a conversation. A wine andbeer list but mostly about the food.
1924624 Nice ambiance. If kid friendly, a separate section foradults where it’’s quiet
1924694 Broad vegetarian menu fish as a meat substitute manyvegetable dishes recycling of beverage containers noplastic, styrofoam and paper dishes
1924730 I didn’’t check quotmusicquot because I strongly prefer QUIETcanned music over loud bands. For some reason it seemsimpossible to have live bands that play QUIETLY enoughfor people to enjoy their conversation.
1924735 Walking distance, i.e. in Old Town or along Carroll
1924774 Drinks fine but I would not like to see a full bar. As for parking, please consider the traffic and potential noice increase to teh residents who live near the restaurant.
1924778 It just has to feel cozy, a la Mark’’s
1924815 Cleanliness. Lighting.
1924846 decor/environment
1924849 cleaniness, ambiance, nice decor, good service, vegetarian options
1924912 quality of food
1925089 Healthfulness of the food. Proximity to other things I need (like a hardware store or hair dresser or housewares store) I like to combine errands.
1925656 I’’d like a good beer list, but the Montgomery County wholesale operation rules that out. While I think the county does a decent job with liquor, the wholesale control of beer and wine makes it very hard to stock a good list of either. If I am going to have a beer or glass of wine with my meal, I make sure to go to DC or VA.
1925730 cleanliness (it’’s a must, and TP restaurants are usually filthy/infested with roaches)atmosphere
1926472 Cofortable seating, table clothes
1926475 Good Service
1926606 Quality of food
1927420 Hours of operation
1928108 Tableclothes, bussed tables, something higher-end and more intimate than the prevailing diner climate here.
1928323 ServiceReservationsNon-smoking (a given)Not too loudPrivacy from other tables
1929474 Unique atmosphere
1929753 good food
1930289 Interior design, comfort of seating, quiet background(no loud sound level), lighting, restful interior
1932755 Better quality cooking than some of what we have already. Willing to pay more than is average charge around here for better cuisine.
1932787 Walk to in in the downtown TP area -ie Laurel andCarroll and vicinity down to metro. Drinks and music or entertainment would be greatasset but not necessarily dtererming factor. quotMiddleEast’’ is one of our regulars and love the music onweekends-it just wasn’’t one the last 3 we pttronizedrecently
1938003 atmospheresomething more inviting than either Mark’’sKitchen or the Mediterrean place next to it. Doesn’’thave to be fancy upscale, just some interesting decor.Think: like Mayorga Coffeehouse. (If this helps, I’’m a single male, 38)
1955617 interesting atmosphere - as opposed to the same type of tables and chairs we have at every restaurant in town.
1970626 Independently owned and operated
